Visiting research fellows

The Centre welcomes visiting research fellows at different stages of their careers who can enrich the research environment and contribute to our activities.

Preference will be given to applicants whose research is related to the Centre’s research agenda and individual staff members’ research. The number of visiting research fellows we can host at any given point of time depends on office space and the availability and interest of mentors/staff.

  • Applications can be submitted at any time but prospective applicants must contact us well before the proposed commencement of their visit or any grant deadlines.
  • All applicants must have a Centre mentor for their visit and will need to contact that person informally first before submitting an official application to the Director of the Centre.
  • All visiting research fellows should be willing to present at least one public lecture/research seminar during their stay.
  • Applications may be made for any time of the year, excluding the summer period (mid-June to mid-August), and for any duration, but not normally exceeding one year.
  • Successful applicants will be allocated a shared office and will be able to use the Asia library and any other library facilities at Lund University.
  • Successful applicants will be given the title of Visiting Research Fellow.

This appointment does not carry any remuneration. There are however possibilities to apply to different funding bodies and we are willing to assist in such applications if there is a mutual research interest and benefit; also depending on office availability etc. For such applications the candidate needs to contact us well before the application period opens as these applications require quite a bit of work.

Examples of funding bodies/positions:

Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships (new tab)

Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (new tab)

Swedish Council International Postdoctoral Positions (calls twice yearly, only for applicants with a PhD from a Swedish University) (new tab)

Applications

After making contact with a prospective mentor the applicant will have to submit a CV, a research proposal (around 400 words), and a letter explaining how the visit will benefit the applicant as well as the Centre. The applicant should also indicate the preferred time period(s) of the visit. Please send the application via e-mail to marina [dot] svensson [at] ace [dot] lu [dot] se (Prof. Marina Svensson)

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis by the proposed mentor, the Director of the Centre, and in the case of visiting PhD candidates also by the Director of Studies of the PhD Programme, and in consultation with other staff at the Centre.
